Jed Allen Turnbull passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho at the age of 64. Jed was born on April 3, 1955, to James and Dolores (Nolen) Turnbull and lived most of his life on land his great-grandfather homesteaded in the Sagle area. He graduated from Sandpoint Senior High School in 1973, during which time he was very involved with the FFA, serving as President. He went on to attend North Idaho College and graduated with a degree in Auto Mechanics. From 1975 to 1987, he was married to Juanita Durfee and together they had two children, Travis & Twilla. Jed was later married to Marilyn Rinehart from 1998 until 2010.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Louisiana Pacific and built many roads and bridges for their logging operations. His favorite “pastime” for many years was operating his trackhoe in perilous situations. He went on to work for the City of Sandpoint as a Supervisor in the Public Works Dept. and later started his own excavation company – Mountain Movers. Jed was well known for his kind, generous heart and giving back to the community he loved.
During his life he had many great adventures in the outdoors. His passion for all things hunting and fishing was evident and the related stories are endless. Jed was always interested in learning about the history of the places he visited and while learning that he met and became friends with many people. Whether through work or recreation, the friendships that were made lasted all of his life.
Jed was preceded in death by his father James. He is survived by his mother Dolores; brother Matthew and sister Crystal (Bill) Gordon; son Travis; daughter Twilla (Lonnie) Miller; grandchildren Micheal Goyen and Alex Miller; significant other Karen Resso and too many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and dear friends to list.
