Kenneth Rose

Kenneth Gary Rose, 72, passed away on Friday, September 21, 2018 in Sagle, Idaho. A potluck will be held at Ken’s home in his garden at noon on Sunday, October 7, 2018.
Ken was born on October 10, 1945 in Los Angeles, CA to Leonard and Anne Rose. He grew up and attended schools in Grenada Hills, CA. Ken served his country in the United States Navy. After the Navy, Ken worked in Lake Tahoe as a lift operator and black jack dealer. He later worked as a gardener in Anchorage, AK.

In 1975, he married Nancy Dubois Morton. They were looking for a perfect place to homestead and looked all over the nation, finally settling in Sagle. Nancy passed away May 4, 1980. She was an excellent designer and weaver and to honor her, Ken bought the first llama for the ranch. That was the start of Sky Meadow Llamas.
Ken was also a “jack of all trades.” At different times in his life, he made stained glass lamps, owned Chilly Willy’s Ice Cream Store, owned the Sharper Edge knife sharpening business, and was partner in Nakea Consulting Group as a broker for high risk workmen’s comp insurance.

Ken married Sandra (Sandy) Hughes on August 12, 1994. After success with the llamas and with the herd up to 60 llamas they decided to sell the ranch in 2008. They then built their dream home on a ridge above the old ranch.

Ken touched so many lives and he was so well loved! He was at his best socializing and spending time with friends, children and grandchildren. Cooking and landscape gardening were his fortes, but he loved his dogs. He was a diamond in the rough, wore his heart on his sleeve, and will be sorely missed by many…
He is survived by his wife Sandra Hughes-Rose of Sagle; daughter Sadrina (Paul) Dorn of Seattle; two granddaughters Olivia and Josephine; brother Donald (Judy) Rose of Lancaster, PA; and sister Deborah (Jeff) Rose Miller of Humble, TX.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents and wife Nancy.
