Val was a beautiful person. I was proud to call her my sister. She came into my life through the marriage of her father to my mother when I was barely a teenager and she was already married. We enjoyed our long distance relationship over the years through letters, cards, and phone calls. A special joy were our many visits in Sandpoint when my husband and I passed through on our way to a Kalispell jazz festival. She was a very genuine, gracious, and intelligent woman. I'm sad to realize these visits have ended, but I know Val has found a happy home in heaven where I look forward to lots more time together in eternity. Busso and I offer our sympathy to all her family and friends. Love, Janette

I was privileged to know Val for such a short time, but long enough to realize that she had an amazingly gentle and loving spirit. Her laughter was hearty and her smile was so sweet. I thank her for sharing a part of her wonderful spirit with me.

I met Val 10 years ago at Luther Park and together we learned how to play Mah Jongg. We had many happy days playing Mah Jongg, going out for pizza and to Priest lake for lunch, discussing our favorite soap opera. She generously shared her beautiful book collection with us and we had fun talking about them. Many happy memories. I cherish the time we had together. She was a very special lady. I will miss her always smiling face. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

It was an honor spending time with Val. Thank you for allowing me that precious time. She was always such a kind gentle woman full of grace. I have fond memories of growing up with the Sawyer family in the neighborhood. Especially the time Kent climbed up a tree to rescue my cat. I am sending my sympathies, prayers, and blessings, that God will give you strength and comfort today and always through this very difficult time. God bless you all.

I will miss my Alpha Delta Kappa sister, especially her smiles and sweet nature. I think I would have been blessed to have been one of her students during those years she taught so many children. Goodbye, Val.
