Russell Jay Mock, 61, passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2021 in Naples, Idaho. Private family services have been held.
Russ was born on April 18, 1960 in Sheridan, WY to Franklin and Barbara Mock. He grew up on his grandmother’s sheep farm in Hot Springs, MT, where he played football and graduated in 1978.
He served his country in the United States Marine Corps, and worked as a mechanic on fighter jets. After the service he moved to Alaska, became a mill wright and worked for Louisiana Pacific. Russ married MarDell McCloud on May 10, 1989 in Ketchikan Alaska. He worked for several remote Mines throughout Alaska including the Red Dog Mine and HECLA Greens Creek Mines. In 2001 they bought a home in Naples, ID.
Russ was an honest and hard-working humble man who enjoyed working on projects around the home. He enjoyed hunting and making his own sausages, fishing, and exploring nature and the mountains. He was also a history buff and took pride in learning anything and everything. Russ also had an interest in politics and was never short of opinions on the subject. He was a proud Marine Corps vet, a huge patriot and often spoke of his pride for having served his country.
He was a quick witted man, truly a jokester at heart and thoroughly enjoyed a good laugh at his own expense and others. While he enjoyed working hard his main focus in life was his wife and children. He was the King of his castle and was never more happy than to kick back and relax while watching a Denver Broncos game or barbecuing for his family while enjoying a cold beer. It’s no surprise that Christmas and the 4th of July were his favorite holidays considering his love for God and Country.
He loved the Lord and his amazing grace, knowing we’re all sinners in need of a savior. Days before going home he said, ” I’ve got a ticket to heaven and it says Jesus loves me on it. ”
He is survived by his wife MarDell Mock of Naples, ID; three sons Russell Mock (Kate Breneman) of Plummer, ID, Michael (Emily) Mock of Bonners Ferry, ID, and Kendall Mock of Naples, ID; four grandchildren Katrina, Kaylee, Rayna, and Malichi; sister Marsha Uncles two brothers Cyrus and Lee Mock.
The family is grateful for all your prayers and thoughts as they mourn their profound loss and rejoice that they were so incredibly blessed to have him and all their memories.
