Robert Carlton “Bob” Browning, 80, passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Providence Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, WA. Private family services will be held in the spring. Bob has been laid to rest at the Evergreen Cemetery in Priest River.
Bob was born on December 11, 1940 in Flushing, MI to Carlton and Leona Browning. He moved to Fresno, CA at age 13, and graduated from Clovis High School in 1958.
Bob married Linda Chrisman in 1963 in Fresno. They raised three sons and lived in Hemet, while Bob worked as a firefighter for the California Department of Forestry. Bob retired as Deputy Chief in 1991 after open heart surgery.
Bob continued to work several odd jobs. He managed the Ramona Pageant, worked security for CNN, where he met many celebrities and was a driver for Larry King. In 2004 he moved to Sandpoint.
Bob is a member of the First Baptist Church. He enjoyed staying busy with yardwork and fishing, but especially enjoyed hunting with his grandson Brock.
He is survived by his wife Linda Browning in Sandpoint; two sons Jimmy and Jerry Browning of California; daughter in law Sonja Browning of Sandpoint; six grandchildren Jason, Shae, Kristy, Rachel, Michelle, and Brock. Also surviving is his niece Stephanie Browning of Sacramento.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, son Steven Browning and brother David Browning.
