A long time dear friend who made the world more joyful and gave amazing , whimsical ( and serious) art to us ......so many warm memories....my heart aches and is so grateful for her friendship.......she and Tom, and my husband, Stas and I, used to celebrate our birthdays each July, together....later, she and I did it with our husbands gone....we had a wonderful summer birthday dinner together, this July, at Trinity beach restaurant...Leata was one of the most loving and special people I've experienced in my entire lifetime. My empathy to all her family for your loss .....it's huge! But what wonderful, warm memories this lovely lady leaves us! My love to you all. That picture was a "dress as what you feel your identity is" ....we both went as Mother Nature. Peggy??

I wrote a memoir about Leata Judd a few years ago in an English class at Lake Pend Oreille Alternative High School. I chose to write about her and nominate her for the Woman of Wisdom Award. When I first met her the first thing that drew me to her was her kind and soft soul. I got to know her over the years and we grew pretty close. I would go to her house and work on art projects together, one of her favorite's was clay sculpting. We would also attend the Art Walk events in the summer, and one year we even did some paintings in the alley of downtown Sandpoint. Leata Judd was a huge inspiration to me and I enjoyed listening to her stories. She sort of "adopted" me into her family and I had the great opportunity to meet other members of her family as well. I felt like I could come to her and talk to her about anything. Leata Judd will be missed, we love you! Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and time dedicated to LPO. You have changed many lives. The memories we have I will cherish forever and I am grateful.

My condolences to your family. I didn't personally know Leata although I followed her work in the community and the art Jerry and Daris had or shared with me plus her work I would see in the community. Here work with the kids was precious. She will be missed. Rachel Nordgaarden
