I was a longtime patient of Joyce's. I had an appointment with her on March 3rd, and little did I know how my life would change that day. The note on Joyce's office door indicated she had a serious illness and her practice was closed permanently, even though it looked as though she'd never left. I left quickly, concerned about what might have happened, but knowing I had her phone # and could call later to see how she was doing. My life has been extremely hectic since then, but I continually thought of her and believed that once my busy life settled down a bit, I could give her a call. Until tonight, when I found out that I'd never be able to make that phone call. Joyce was the best diabetic doctor I've ever had, and I've had the disease for over 54 years. How can you replace a Joyce Wilson? So personable, so friendly, so helpful. I saw her almost every month, one month having to do with my care, the next month having lunch together. We prayed together, we talked about God and His will, we shared about many things, not just about diabetes. We had the same middle name, and our birthdays were 2 days apart. We were friends. Goodbye, dear friend. I will miss you.

I attended Mercy HS with Joyce. I am sad to hear of her death, and extend my thoughts and prayers to her family and friends. It sounds like she had a wonderful life with her children and a beautiful home in Idaho.

My heartfelt condolences to Joyce's family and friends as they celebrate a life well lived. "It is only with the heart that one can clearly see. What is essential is invisible to the eye." The Little Prince May she rest in peace. With sympathy, Bernadette Galus Zajac, Mercy Class of '66

I was very sad to hear of Joyce’s sudden illness and passing. Joyce and I met in 9th grade at Mercy High School, became good friends, and over the 4 years spent a lot of time together. We were debate partners sophomore year, and neither of us was very good at it! But we had lots of laughs in spite of the stress! We kept in touch over the years, albeit intermittently, and I loved hearing about her life in Sandpoint. My deepest sympathy to her family and close friends in Sandpoint.
