Joann, 71 years is a lot of time together! Losing Dar may seem like losing an appendage of your body. I know you will be at a loss without him. Our sympathies to Christie and all your family upon the loss of a wonderful man, Dar. Judy and Jim Payne

I tried my first District Court case in front of Judge Cogswell way back in 1971, followed by many more over the next many years. He was the highest rated District Judge in the entire state for good reason. Always a gentleman and a superb legal craftsman who was widely respected and admired and not only by the lawyers who practiced in front of him. Imagine my pride when he joined my law firm following his retirement! I enjoyed practicing with him as much as I enjoyed practicing in front of him. RIP my friend. I will always remember you fondly.

Tani and I extend very sincere condolences to Judge Cogswell's family. He was a great guy, always an island of calm, always thoughtful, polite and generous with his time. He graciously agreed to take me on as an extern while he was District Court judge back in the 80's, and I could not have asked for a better mentor. He was an old-school gentleman and a scholar. May he rest in peace.

Dar was Dad's college buddy. A great man and good influence on kids like me. He will be missed. Bless his heart.
