Dan was my 'landlord' in SF but that word hides our friendship. He was the 'mayor' of McAllister Street and he left me with that fun responsibility. I got to visit Lake St in '82 and had a ball! Reason for this late entry is I got to wondering how he was fairing in the fascist Bonner County these days. And now I see the sad news that a strong voice against racism is gone. My best to his daughter and family.

I have known Dan for many years and always enjoyed his stories and conversations. I'm sure there is a table at the Heaven Cafe that he has a seat at! His life with us will be missed, but not forgotten.

I moved back to Sandpoint in'79; can't recall where or how, but met Dan and friends, forever. My condolences to Molly, Sharon, Granddaughters, and all who loved him. Truly an amazing man,who is missed already...his voice, wit and laugh. Adios.

I met Dan on my 1st trip to Sandpoint to visit Tea 30 years ago. You couldn't help but love the guy! We always visited "on the porch" bringing some of Tea's home made cookies or granola. So sad we lost another great one! Laurie Mowbray Boise, Idaho

It must have been the winter of '82 when I first met Dan. We worked together at a video production company called First Run. His work ethic inspired me and I eventually went off to work for a PBS affiliate making documentaries. Thanks, Dan for everything! I miss you.

I share love, sadness and sympathy with Molly, Sharon, Kathy, and the rest of Dans family and friends. I moved away and hadnt seen Dan in almost 30 years, but great memories live on for me, now and always. He was special and unique - a one in a million very cool guy.

RIP in peace my friend. There was never a dull moment with you. Love the Lake St. porch, yelling at the cars to slow down, our cocktails, laughter and our special whistle. You will be always in my heart Dan McCahon!
