Charles Young Glock, 99, passed away on Friday, October 19, 2018 in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Charles was born on October 17, 1919 in Bronx, NY to Charles and Philippine Glock. He grew up and attended schools in the Bronx. He received his business degree from NYU and his M.B.A. from Boston University. Charles served as a Major in the Army Air Corps from 1942-1946. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Legion of Merit.
Charles married Margaret Schleef in September 1950 in Dishman, WA. Charles earned his PhD from Columbia University, while serving on their faculty. He worked as a Professor of Sociology for 20 years at the University of California, Berkeley.
He and Margaret retired to Coeur d’Alene for 10 years and then to Sandpoint in 1989. He enjoyed his life in Idaho where he met weekly with his scholar’s group for over twenty years. He is survived by his son James W. Glock (Barbara Macri); daughter Susan Olson (Randy Rod); grandsons Justin (Lauren) Couch and Chris (Kate) Olson; great grandson Charles Danger Couch and Great Granddaughter Kennedy Pearson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Margaret, and sister Lillian Nolte.
Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint is handling the arrangements. His daughter and son will be arranging a life celebration at a later date.
