Catherine C. “Trink” Melgard, 85, passed away on Friday, November 5, 2021 in Spokane, Wash. Memorial Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m., on November 23, 2021 at Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes in Spokane with Fr. Darrin Connall officiating.
Trink was born on November 26, 1935 in Spokane to Richard and Catherine Curtis. She grew up and attended school in Sandpoint, graduating in the class of 1953. She attended the University of Idaho and was a member of Gamma Phi Beta. While attending the U of I, Trink met Bob Melgard in a photography class. They were married on July 12, 1958 in Sandpoint. They made their home in Moscow, where they owned Roban’s Clothing Store. In 1974 they moved to Spokane. She worked as a fifth grade teacher at Adams Elementary and Mullen Road Elementary. Trink retired in 2006.
She is a member of Lady of Lourdes Cathedral. She cherished spending time at her family home in Sandpoint. She also enjoyed knitting, baking, reading, and politics.
Trink is survived by her son Bob (Holly) Melgard of Boise; 4 grandchildren Emily Melgard of Chicago, IL, Grey (Erin) Shankel-Melgard of San Rafael, CA, Jack Parker of Boise, and Tyler Melgard of Salt Lake City, UT; one sister Elizabeth Christy of Spokane; one brother Richard (Patients) Curtis of Sandpoint; son in law David Parker of Boise; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob Melgard, daughter Kirsten Parker, and son Andy Melgard.
