Allan Eugene Hinkle, 81, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, WA. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, February 12, 2021 at Valley Fourth Memorial Church (2303 S. Bowdish Rd, Spokane Valley, WA 99206) with Pastor Joe Pursch officiating. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Rockford.
Gene was born on July 19, 1939 to Harold and Nina Hinkle. He graduated from Pleasant Hill High School in 1957 and went on to attend Diablo Valley Junior College, Chico State, the University of California at Berkeley, and the College of Physicians and Surgeons at the University of the Pacific where he graduated in 1966 with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.
He married Terri LeTendre in June of 1963. Gene entered the Navy as a Lieutenant and he was stationed at Camp Pendleton for two years, preparing the Fifth Marine Division for service in Vietnam.
Gene moved to Washington in 1968, and after a few years working in other dental practices, he was able to fulfill his dream of opening his own dental office in 1974. He worked as a dentist for 53 years, retiring in 2019.
Gene trusted Jesus Christ as his Savior in 1971, and he was an active member in several Spokane-area churches. He spent the last 28 years as a member at Valley Fourth Memorial Church in Spokane Valley. He loved our country and he enjoyed hunting, camping, volleyball, tinkering in his shop at home, and the outdoors.
Gene is survived by his sister Anne (Leon) Bormaster; sons Daniel (Irina) Hinkle and Erik (Sara) Hinkle; daughter Bethany (Jeremy) Ashmoore, nine grandchildren Hadassah Hinkle, David Hinkle, Grant Ashmoore, Stewart Ashmoore, Joshua Hinkle, Serena Ashmoore, Benjamin Hinkle, Luke Ashmoore, and Evan Hinkle; and his former wives, Terri Hinkle and Janet Bond and Janet’s children, Yvonne, Jennifer, Tamara and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Nina (Stone) Hinkle, and by his two grandchildren, Thane and Cameron Ashmoore.
